XR Lambeth General Meeting: What next?

The last 12 months have been a rollercoaster to say the least.

Since March last year, XR Lambeth has been operating online with the exceptions of some small actions and our UK-wide rebellion in September.

We held General Meetings, Climate Cafés and many more events and workshops on Zoom and use our various social platforms to stay in touch and keep rebels informed.

As restrictions are slowly easing and we cautiously start to meet up outside again in small numbers, we feel it is a good time to discuss what we have been up to, reflect on what went well, what didn’t that much, as well as start planning ahead.

How can we ensure we are as inclusive as possible in this transition time when we meet and organise? Should we alternate online and physical events?

What kind of actions and gatherings can we start again in a safe way?

What should we focus on in light of this year’s events such as the health and climate crises feeding on each other, the government’s crackdown of peaceful protests and other human rights,  the accelerating marginalisation of various groups or a return to precovid “normal” that is harmful to people and planet (eg polluting transport)?

Resilience is in our DNA. We have been cultivating it in the face of the climate and ecological crisis and we will continue strengthening it by applying the hard lessons that we have learnt this year.

We want to keep building a movement of movements as shown in this weekend’s #killthebill protests and get stronger together, promoting unity in diversity.

Are you also sick and tired of witnessing daily injustice, exploitation of people and planet for profit and impunity?

Are you dreaming of a more green, just, inclusive and equal world in which we embrace unity and diversity and take care of each other and the land that sustains us?

Then join us this Wednesday evening for our online General meeting to discuss these topics and find out how you can be (more) involved. There is something for everyone and we value each individual’s skills and creativity and what they can share with the movement.

More information on how to join the meeting on our Facebook event (open to non Facebook users). Please respond and share around.

Join our broadcast and working groups to stay informed of what’s coming up and discuss and plan with like-minded people. Don’t forget to introduce yourself as you join 🙂

Love and rage.
