George Floyd, one year on: environmental justice should go hand in hand with racial justice

On Tuesday 26th May, South London Stand Up to Racism organised a #taketheknee event to commemorate the aniversary of George Floyd’s murder. Lambeth rebel Nick Anim (@NickGreenergy) spoke of  how “I can’t breathe” resonates in the racial and climate justice movements.

Nick started by making us reflect on  what it means to be human and treated as such or to live as a racialised individual in a world ruled by white supremacy, to then draw the connection between the fights for climate and social justice. Below is the section* where he talks about Extinction Rebellion and what our mission is when it comes to fighting against racial capitalism and the exploitation of planet and people, especially Black and Brown

*but please do watch the WHOLE powerful speech 🙂
