Dearest rebels,
Can you believe it is already May? Trees have blossomed and the sun is shining (most days!). Unfortunately our rebels’ mood was dampened by the passing of the Police Crime Sentencing and Courts bill and other pieces of legislation aimed at curtailing our basics freedoms and scapegoating the most vulnerable in our society.
But in the words of the Greek poet Christianopoulos:
what didn’t you do to bury me
but you forgot that I was a seed
We have plenty of things to look forward to, including local events and wider actions, because social and climate justice are needed now more than ever. So let’s continue rebelling!

useful info about the PCSC Act
Now that the Police Crime Sentencing and Court bill has become act, we need to prepare for a renewed rackdown on our right to protest. As Open Democracy highlights:
Three UN special rapporteurs have condemned the bill, Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights said its proposals are “oppressive and wrong”, and polling has shown two-thirds of the public were concerned about threats to protest.
You can read the latest info from the Kill the Bill coalition and Netpol on what the Act means for activists and marginalised communities.
We will be sharing more information and organising training and discussions to make sure that we are all up to date and prepared to resist these increasingly authoritarian laws.
a look back at the rebellion
In spite of the tough times ahead, our rebels have kept showing up in numbers, displaying an incredible energy and determination, and with a smile!
Now more than ever we need to stand united and support each other, together we are stronger!
